DESCRIPTION
In a bid to use the powerhammer some more I wanted to lower the heel on a billet and add some character to the pattern of a layered damascus
I like a tall heel and good knuckle clearance, 60mm heel in this case
There is a gentle rock in the profile near the tip with a generous area of flat for board cutting
I wasn’t as brave or overly original with this design opting for a classic style, but a tried and tested chef knife design,
What this knife does have is under the hood, as I have blended in a hollow grind using a 36” wheel palten and a gentle convexity to the thin edge, something I feel I have perfected more on from this time spent with Mareko Maumasi! making the blade lighter yet with strength from a thick spine and as Damasteel has such great properties as a Stainless chef knife steel i think this makes it an efficient and nimble knife
The handle has my classic step in the handle that embraces the pinch grip with a “pinky anchor” or allows with comfort tow fingers on the step and good ergonomics for a classic hold
due to the forging down of the heel you can see the pattern change, and the deep etching has a balance of finely polished highs and the darker etch in the groves,
